Quick answer
For tattoo removal in Johor Bahru, choose a doctor-led clinic such as Kaiteki, Her Clinic or A.M Clinic in Southkey and Taman Pelangi. Her Clinic's guide quotes RM300–RM600 per session for small tattoos. Avoid beauty centres offering laser. Most tattoos need 5 to 12 sessions, 6 to 8 weeks apart.
Tattoo removal in Johor Bahru draws two groups: JB locals and Singaporeans who cross the Causeway for treatment. Both face the same problem. Directories list many names, and some of them are beauty businesses rather than medical clinics. So we checked each clinic below on its own website in October 2026, and we only list doctor-led clinics.
If you are new to laser removal, read our main tattoo removal guide for Malaysia first. It explains sessions, colours, pain and the risks for darker skin.
Verified tattoo removal clinics in Johor Bahru
We list these clinics for tattoo removal in Johor Bahru in no particular order, and none paid to appear. Where a clinic does not publish a price or a device, we say so.
Kaiteki Aesthetic Clinic
Kaiteki has two JB branches and names two pico platforms, which gives the doctor more options for coloured ink. Its site explains that it uses conservative settings and longer gaps for medium and deep skin tones. It also notes that hands, ankles and feet clear more slowly.
Her Clinic Johor Bahru
Her Clinic's Southkey branch opens daily, including Sundays and public holidays. That suits weekend visitors from Singapore. Its guide expects 4 to 8 sessions, 6 to 8 weeks apart, with numbing cream and cooling for comfort.
A.M Clinic Johor Bahru
A.M Clinic also runs branches in Penang and KL. It quotes 6 to 10 sessions or more for tattoo removal. It also warns that light and cosmetic pigments may darken after laser, so ask for a test spot on old brow work. The branch closes on Mondays.
Dr Wee Clinic (Taman Century)
Directories list several Dr Wee Clinic branches around JB. Its Taman Century clinic offers tattoo removal under its birthmarks and tattoos service. The price above comes from patient reports, not the clinic, so ask for a quote.
KO Skin Specialist (Dr Ko Clinic JB)
KO is a large dermatologist-led chain. Its wide laser range helps with scarred skin and birthmarks as well as tattoos. Because the device list covers the whole group, ask what the JB branch has.
O2 Klinik
O2 Klinik's size-based estimates are a useful planning tool: 4 to 6 sessions for a palm-sized tattoo and 8 to 12 for a full A4 sheet. Ask which laser your JB branch uses before you book.
Why we leave out JB beauty centres
Directories for tattoo removal in Johor Bahru also list businesses such as Monarch Beauty and Pinnacle Figure Aesthetic Center. Both appear to be beauty businesses rather than medical clinics, and we found nothing showing they are licensed healthcare facilities. So we do not recommend them.
The reason is the law, not taste. The Ministry of Health's aesthetic practice guidelines require aesthetic laser work to take place in facilities licensed under the Private Healthcare Facilities and Services Act 1998. A registered doctor holding a Letter of Credentialing and Privileging must do it. Laser for skin pigmentation sits on that list. The guideline does not name tattoo removal itself, but clinics treat it under that heading.
KKM also enforces these rules. In January 2025, it said at least 17 beauty-centre owners had faced charges for offering medical aesthetic procedures, including laser, without qualifications, Malaysiakini reported. On top of the legal risk, the American Academy of Dermatology warns that burns, scars and texture changes are more common when someone lacks medical training.
Tattoo removal in JB for Singapore visitors
Many Singaporeans look at tattoo removal in Johor Bahru to save money. We could not find reliable published Singapore removal prices to compare fairly, so we will not claim a saving. Instead, get a quote on both sides of the Causeway and compare the full course, not one session.
Also, factor in the trips when you plan tattoo removal in Johor Bahru. Five to twelve sessions mean five to twelve crossings over a year or more. Causeway traffic on weekends and public holidays can turn a short visit into a long day. In addition, keep these points in mind:
- Book with a clinic that keeps clear records, so another doctor can continue if you switch.
- Ask how to reach the clinic if a blister or infection appears after you return home.
- Keep treated skin out of the sun for three months, as the AAD advises.
- Choose a branch on your usual route into JB, so each visit stays short.

What tattoo removal in JB costs
Prices for tattoo removal in Johor Bahru are rarely published. Her Clinic's guide quotes RM300–RM600 per session for small tattoos and RM800–RM2,000 or more for large ones. Patient reports for Dr Wee Clinic branches range from about MYR 385 to MYR 930 per session. Because most tattoos need several sessions, ask for the total estimate up front. Our tattoo removal price guide shows worked examples, and you should confirm any figure with the clinic before booking.
Planning a cover-up instead? Fading takes fewer sessions than full removal. Our Johor Bahru tattoo shops guide lists studios, and our cover-up guide explains how the two steps fit together.
